1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Unpickle (“Unpickle,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Unpickle mobile application.
Unpickle helps you discover meal ideas based on ingredients you have and what you are craving. It does not contain recipes. When you choose a meal idea, the app can open an external search engine so you can find a recipe.
2. Information stored on your device
To provide its core features, Unpickle may store the following information locally on your device:
- Ingredients you add to your pantry
- Selected cravings and meal preferences
- Saved or hidden meal ideas
- Recently viewed or selected ideas
- App settings and onboarding status
This information is used to generate and improve recommendations inside the app. It remains on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
3. Personal information
Unpickle does not require you to create an account. We do not ask for your name, postal address, telephone number, date of birth, payment information, or other direct personal identifiers.
4. Data collection and sharing
In the current version of Unpickle:
- We do not collect your pantry, craving, favorites, or preference data.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not share your app data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use your app data for targeted advertising.
5. External recipe searches
When you tap a button to find a recipe, Unpickle may open Google or another external service using keywords related to the selected meal. Once you leave Unpickle, the external service may collect information according to its own privacy policy and terms.
Unpickle does not control the content, privacy practices, cookies, or data collection of external websites or applications.
6. Internet access
The app may use an internet connection to open external search results or load content required for app functionality. Your network provider and any external service you access may process standard technical information, such as your IP address, according to their own policies.
7. Permissions
Unpickle should only request permissions that are necessary for its current features. The basic pantry and meal-idea features do not require access to your contacts, precise location, microphone, camera, or personal photos.
If a future feature requires an additional permission, the app will request it at the time it is needed and this Privacy Policy will be updated where appropriate.
8. Data retention and deletion
Because your pantry and preference data are stored locally, you can remove them by clearing the app’s data, using any available reset or delete option inside the app, or uninstalling Unpickle.
Uninstalling the app generally removes locally stored app data, subject to your device operating system and backup settings.
9. Device backups
Your device or operating-system provider may include app data in a device backup. Such backups are controlled by you and the relevant platform provider, not by Unpickle.
10. Children’s privacy
Unpickle is intended as a general-audience household utility and is not directed specifically to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Security
We design Unpickle to minimize privacy risks by keeping core user data on the device. However, no device, storage system, or method of electronic processing can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
12. International users
Unpickle may be used in different countries. Because the current version does not transmit pantry or preference data to our servers, that information is generally processed locally on the user’s device.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Unpickle changes, when legal requirements change, or when new features are introduced. The revised policy will display a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated within the app or through the Google Play listing.
